A Bit About Sean

Specialist (SPC) Sean Walsh was a Military Police (MP) Soldier in the California National Guard, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, when he was killed in action in the Khost Province of Afghanistan on November 16, 2011.

Prior to his enlistment, Sean was an Explorer Cadet with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department, and then the Santa Clara Police Department. He joined the Army National Guard as an MP at the age of 18 to gain additional experience working towards his goal. After returning from deployment, Sean’s plans were to continue his education and become a Cadet with the Santa Clara PD or the SCCSD, where he hoped to someday join their ranks. During his Afghanistan deployment, he vigorously studied and memorized the California Penal Code, to prepare himself to apply for a position in law enforcement.

Sean was also an avid skateboarder, loved surfing, and his favorite place to vacation was Hawaii.  He enjoyed motorcycle riding and cycling and played baseball, football, and soccer.  He was a loyal Sharks, Giants and 49ers fan, but also rooted for all the other Bay Area teams and attended games whenever he could.

Sean was known for his sense of humor, unique laugh, and his positive outlook.

A grateful nation thanks and honors you Sean!
